Your NDIS Plan Manager Is Closing: What Happens Next?
If your NDIS Plan Manager has told you they are closing, you may be wondering what will happen next.
While it can feel like an unexpected change, there are a few things you can do to prepare for the transition. Arranging a new Plan Manager before your current service ends can help the change go smoothly and support the continued processing of invoices.
Why are some NDIS Plan Managers closing?
The NDIS is going through broader changes with reforms affecting both participants and providers. These include changes to plan management and the introduction of a government-approved panel of plan management providers from October 2027. Read about the changes to the NDIS.
Alongside these changes, some providers are reviewing whether continuing to offer plan management is sustainable.
For some organisations, this may mean closing their plan management service.
Whatever the reason for your Plan Manager‘s closure, here are a few things you can do to prepare for the change.
Find out when their service ends
Your current Plan Manager should let you know their final date of service. If possible, start arranging a new Plan Manager before this date to help make the transition smoother and support the continued processing of invoices.
It’s also worth checking whether there are any invoices still being processed or waiting to be submitted.
Choose a new Plan Manager
Take some time to consider what you’re looking for in a new Plan Manager and find one that feels like the right fit for your needs. If you’re not sure where to start, you can use the NDIS Provider Finder to search for registered Plan Managers.
Once you’ve chosen a new Plan Manager, start the onboarding process so they’re ready to support you when the change takes place.
Confirm the change with the NDIS
Your new Plan Manager will send a relationship request for you or your plan to accept through the myNDIS participant portal. Alternatively, you can call NDIA on 1800 800 110.
You can read more about changing your Plan Manager and the relationship process on the NDIS website.
Let your providers know
Once your new Plan Manager is confirmed, let your providers know where to send future invoices.
It’s also a good idea to check with both Plan Managers (existing and new) about any outstanding invoices during the transition.
