The pandemic has been extremely deadly around the world and impacting everyone. It has disproportionately impacted people with disabilities and now is the time to act. As the world emerges from the pandemic, it is an opportunity to aim to build a better post-pandemic world for those living with a disability.
#WeThe15 is a global movement launched this month at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. It was founded by a coalition of organisations from sport, human rights, policy, communications, business, arts and entertainment, uniting to change attitudes and create more opportunities for persons with disabilities, as well as improve mobility and accessibility.
It aims to end discrimination and transform the lives of the world’s 1.2 billion persons with disabilities so they can be visible and active members of an inclusive society.
For us in Australia, the #NDIS has been a huge change from the previous disability funding model. The scheme has impacted half a million Australians living with a disability, their families and community.
